In the chalet, they are all carving type skis and suitable for up to good intermediates and the budget conscious staying in our Peisey chalets only. We have mainly adult sizes but larger children will also fit – smallest size boot is 4 and shortest ski is 140cms. The cost is 70 Euros for the skis, poles and boots package or 55 for Skis only. For any children age 14 or below – 50 Euros and 35 respectively.
Ski Hire is payable in resort at the end of your stay.
If you want to hire top range skis we offer a discount at the local shop in Plan Peisey which also applies to children’s equipment. Helmets are available too. Here is the link http://www.nozsports-peiseyvallandry.com They will kindly look after the equipment overnight.
It is advisable to book in advance especially during the peak weeks to avoid disappointment. I am happy to do this for you. .
To book ski lessons, I require the name, adult or child (age for child), level of proficiency, ski school preferred, type of lesson. I will also need a credit card number to reserve – this can be phoned or sent via our secure online form. There is a choice of a couple of ski schools in our resort – each offering something different, be it set group lessons, more flexibility and choice or English instructors. I can also recommend Sian Mcloughlin at SianSki who has recently sent up her own business doing private lessons and at a reasonable cost!
New Generation (English Ski School)
They have limited instructors so early booking is absolutely necessary. New Generation run a superb English ski school which offers smaller group lessons and private lessons. They are great for those that take their skiing seriously and want to advance quicker or for those that want a lesson in pure English! We are happy to book the lessons or you can contact them direct, but be sure to explain which chalet you are staying in – you will not make a 9.00 am meeting time in Vallandry unless you have your own car, so aim for 11.30 or noon.
Please ask about Xmas, New Year and Half term timings and lesson types as they are run slightly different.
Use this guide to work out your levels
Level 1 - This is my first time skiing ever!
Level 2 - I have tried skiing on snow or on a dry slope and find green runs a challenge.
Level 3 - I can control my speed and turn on green slopes using a snowplough.
Level 4 - I ski confidently parallel on blue runs. The plough comes back when it gets steep, narrow or icy.
Level 5 I - ski red runs in good conditions. I enjoy speed, but struggle on bumps, steeps and ice.
Level 6 - I can get down most blacks, and want to improve my off-piste skills.
Level 7 - I can ski ‘everywhere’. Blacks are no problem and I enjoy off-piste.
Arrows I can ski a green run, controlling my speed, use a drag lift and might have tried a blue run.
Bombers I can ‘bomb’ down blue runs and sometimes get down a red run as well.
Rockets I can ski ‘everywhere’ – reds and beyond.

The new snowboarding school has opened this year and will do small groups of 4 minimum and private lessons. They are based in Bourg but will come up to Peisey. Rather than being skiers that teach boarding, they are snowboarding specialists and are passionate about teaching the sport - to children as well as to adults. They speak English too! I have had great reviews from guests who used this school last season so can highly recommend them.
The French ski school who offer cheaper group lessons but generally are bigger groups than New Generation. They also offer private lessons which are better but please ask for the recommended ski instructors (from me)
Be sure to book at the right centre otherwise you will have to trek over to Vallandry - you need the one at Plan Peisey! The link to their site is https://www.peiseyvallandry-skischool.co.uk/ - some people have found their booking system complicated so if you have any problems please ask.
Evolution 2 Ski School
A French ski school but their instructors do speak English - small groups and private lessons so also recommended
