Skiing in Les Arcs and La Plagne

The link to La Plagne from Plan Peisey, is easy and fun using Vanoise Express cable car which holds 200 people in each one. This ski area has over 400kms of marked runs and now it turns these two resorts into the biggest off piste area in the world.

With the added feature of the cable car, both resorts have added new high speed 4 & 6 man chair lifts throughout each resort to speed up the access. Every level of skier from beginner to the most advanced is catered for and with the choice of two glacier’s and the extensive snowmaking equipment, snow reliability is guaranteed. Paradiski boasts 70% of it’s pistes being over 2000m!

Here are some of the best places to ski and visit

Tree lined skiing around Peisey-Vallandry with wide open blues and reds, try the Five fingers in Arc 2000 very long black runs with heaps of moguls.

Champagny en Vanoise with open pistes and great views across the valley, the Roche de Mio that leads to the La Plagne glacier.

Arc 1600 has great tree lined runs and the Malgovert run is great after a new snow fall, you can also ski one of the longest runs in the world from the top of the Les Arcs glacier at 3220m down to 1200m where you arrive at Villaroger.

Access to Les Arcs is quick and easy, and you can choose your own level of difficulty to get there. The Blue runs take you into Arc 1800 or if you choose to take the red or black runs then you come to the mid station of the Trans Arc bubble car. The bubble car takes you into the next valley of Arc 2000, from here you have a mountain of choice.

The hardest runs can be found just below the glacier (3226m) of the Aiguille rouge, and also the start of one of the longest runs in the world down to Villaroger (from 3226m to 1200m, 17 kms!).

Recommended for Good Skiiers

The best trip by far for good skiers with a guide, is to ski the two glaciers, you ski the Bellecote Glacier in La plagne down to a free bus service which then takes you to Peisey, from here you access the Les Arcs ski area and head for the Aiguille Rouge glacier and ski behind it down to Villaroger, without the skiing in between just the glaciers alone you would have skied over a 4000m descent off piste.

We think Les Arcs is unique as when the snow falls it’s the only mountain we know that the terrain changes completely. Off piste is a must for the more experienced skier, there are superb places that are easy to find not far from the piste or if you want to go Back Country we can recommend guides to take you skiing for 2 hours without using a lift.
